Who Knew? “Culinary Art Therapy” & Family Dinners
I fell down a wormhole this morning.
It all started when I was looking up the history of focaccia (anyone who's been working with me lately might know why), the symbolism of bread (wow, the Romans were racy!), and trying to figure out the meaning of life (it's complicated).
In my travels down the interweb hole this morning, I came across this website [https://www.culinaryarttherapy.com/]
Thank you Julie Ohana, what fabulous phrasing for what many of us do every day! A quick email off this morning revealed that she is working on curriculum to capture this simple concept and apply more fun to our every day meal preparation! Yippee! Encouraging us to keep it fresh! I love the focus she places on not just what we cook, but how we cook & who we cook with & for. All while also putting names to the skills that kitchen work can empower eveyone with to feel their best.
Touring her website, I discovered a local author, Miriam Weinstein, who wrote The Surprising Power of Family Meals. It felt very pertinent as my two siblings skyped in for a few minutes of our own family meal this week (one from California, the other from Brazil) and we sang a slightly off key, out-of-synch, happy birthday to my mom who just celebrated her 60th.
Cheers to cooking therapy, I'm signing off to make a round of salsa to celebrate!
